Quotient Capital’s Strategic Outlook for 2025

Why Fixed Income Is the Smart Money’s Next Move – Quotient Capital’s Strategic Outlook for 2025

With geopolitical tensions, inflation uncertainty, and global capital flows still shifting in response to the Trump administration’s renewed sanctions, fixed income continues to emerge as the strategic asset class for long-term investors. Quotient Capital Pty Ltd has released its 2025 mid-year outlook, showcasing how Australian fixed income is delivering security, stability, and consistent real returns in a turbulent global environment.

Australian Fixed Income: A Beacon of Stability in Volatile Markets
Global markets have been shaken by widespread sanctions introduced by the second Trump administration, prompting turbulence across equities, commodities, and even traditional safe havens. Yet Australia’s fixed income market remains a pillar of strength.

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) forecasts inflation to moderate toward the 2-3% target range by late 2025. Coupled with Australia’s sound credit environment, strong institutional frameworks, and fiscal stability, this positions the domestic bond market as one of the most attractive globally.

Key research insights from Quotient Capital include:

  • Australian private credit grew by 14% year-on-year (2024-2025).
  • Domestic corporate bond issuance surged 22% in Q1 2025.
  • Liquidity across the investment-grade bond market is at its strongest in over a decade.

“Fixed income is no longer just a defensive allocation – it’s a proactive, yield-focused wealth strategy,” said Tom McCallister, Senior Fixed Income Advisor at Quotient Capital.”In this cycle, investors are demanding capital protection, income certainty, and inflation resilience – and Australian bonds deliver all three.”

Geopolitical Shifts and Global Capital Reallocation
The global ripple effects of U.S. sanctions have disrupted cross-border capital flows and credit availability across multiple regions – driving a recalibration among asset allocators.

Australia is benefitting as a preferred destination for investors seeking:

  • Political neutrality
  • Robust regulatory governance
  • High-grade credit assets

“Private wealth, family offices, and institutions are reallocating to Australia with growing conviction,” said James Harrington, Senior Fixed Income Advisor at Quotient Capital.”We offer a unique mix of economic resilience and institutional-grade product access, which is proving incredibly attractive.”

Bringing Institutional Access to Private Investors
Quotient Capital bridges the gap between institutional-grade opportunities and private capital – making it possible for high-net-worth individuals and SMSFs to access premium fixed income products, previously restricted to larger funds.

Tailored solutions include:

  • Infrastructure-linked debt instruments
  • Inflation-linked corporate bond portfolios
  • Private credit notes focused on essential service sectors

All offerings are underpinned by detailed credit analysis, transparent structuring, and clear maturity horizons. Minimum investments typically start at $50,000 AUD.

Strategic Outlook: Where the Smart Capital Is Going in 2025

  • Continued demand for floating-rate notes (FRNs) as inflation hedges
  • Growth in infrastructure and essential services-backed bonds
  • Rising private investor flows into corporate and hybrid debt markets
  • SMSFs and family offices driving long-term allocations toward predictable yield strategies

In today’s macro climate, fixed income isn’t a side allocation anymore – it’s the core of the modern portfolio,” McCallister adds.

Valuufy Selected by Global Tech Leader for Environmental Impact Assessment

Valuufy, a pioneering value measurement startup, has been selected by a global tech powerhouse and member of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ to carry out a comprehensive environmental impact assessment. The engagement, which began in March 2025, represents a significant milestone for the young Kyoto-based value creation specialist.

The project is based on the ValuuCompass™, an evolutionary system that transparently assesses impact and value creation for nature, one of the system’s seven stakeholders, and benchmarks the results against other leaders in the market. The client will receive the assessment and analysis later this month, with actionable insights on environmental performance across multiple dimensions.

Directing Sustainabiliy towards Value Creation

Kyle Barnes, CEO of Valuufy, said, “For a startup, especially from Japan, securing a major American tech giant as a client is extraordinary. This speaks clearly on how our approach resonates with forward-thinking organizations. We’ve built ValuuCompass on a solid foundation of academic rigour and practical business value — and that company responded to this combination.”

Addressing Critical Gaps in Sustainability Measurement
The tech heavy selected Valuufy after evaluating multiple sustainability assessment solutions. “Gaps and discrepancies exist in current sustainability benchmarking when factoring environmental and social considerations. We appreciate how Valuufy systematically evaluates all relevant topic areas using best in class industry standards coupled with a data-driven, quantifiable approach to derive actionable insights,” noted a company representative.

Breaking New Ground in Precision and Performance Benchmarking
Dr Philip Sugai, Director of Research at Valuufy, said, “What sets ValuuCompass apart is its unparalleled level of detail and methodological rigor. Unlike current frameworks that offer broad sustainability disclosure topics, we’ve developed specific, measurable subgoals for each objective. This granular approach enables something that’s been largely unattainable with existing frameworks – genuine benchmarking across companies and industries.”

“Traditional ESG frameworks mainly look back on what companies have already reported,” Sugai continued. “Our work focuses on the future and what matters most to business leaders — identifying specific opportunities to create value and reduce risk across their entire stakeholder ecosystem. For technology companies with complex global value chains, this perspective is particularly valuable.”

Directing Sustainabiliy toward Value Creation
This client relationship underscores a growing shift in how leading companies approach sustainability — moving beyond compliance reporting toward strategic value creation. Technology companies in particular face increasing pressure to demonstrate meaningful environmental improvements while maintaining competitive advantage.

Stated Barnes, “Future market leaders understand that sustainability isn’t separate from business strategy — it’s central to it. When organizations can quantify their impact and benchmark against competitors, sustainability becomes a concrete business advantage rather than a vague aspiration. It’s a fundamental shift from sustainability as compliance to sustainability as value creation.”

About Valuufy
Valuufy, Inc. transforms how organizations measure and create sustainable value. Founded in 2024, Valuufy is a registered startup in Kyoto, Japan, emerging from the Value Research Center at Doshisha University and more than ten years academic value research. The groundbreaking ValuuCompass™ provides a comprehensive system for assessing impact and value creation across seven stakeholder dimensions, transforming sustainability from regulatory compliance into strategic competitive advantage. Sophia Chong, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, said: “The seven major events held by the HKTDC in late April brought together some 6,000 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions. Despite the current challenges in the global economic and trade environment, we actively attracted buyers to our fairs to enhance trade resilience and assist exhibitors in gaining a foothold in new markets such as the Middle East and ASEAN regions. The HKTDC remains committed to promoting cross-sector and international trade cooperation among exhibitors, reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as an international trade hub and showcasing its unique advantage in building connections regionally and globally.”

Nearly half of respondents forecast sales growth
To gain deeper insights into current trends in the lifestyle products industry, the HKTDC conducted a survey of 1,583 exhibitors and buyers at the Gifts & Premium FairHome InStyle, and Fashion InStyle. Key market overview and product trends include:

– Nearly half of respondents (49.2%) expected their overall sales would rise in the next one to two years, while 44.5% foresaw that sales will remain stable. – In the furniture and houseware market, smart home technology (21.0%), designer furniture and houseware products (17.0%) and kitchenware and tableware (15.7%) were considered to have the most growth potential.
– Respondents identified womenswear (40.3%), urban clothing (39.1%), and fashion accessories (32.0%) as having the most growth potential in the fashion market.

Concurrent mega events create synergies and promote new market opportunities
The seven concurrent events this year, spanning gifts, houseware, fashion, printing and packaging and IP licensing, helped to foster cross-industry collaboration for exhibitors and buyers. Jimmy Lo, Business Strategy Manager of Homelover Products Limited, a Hong Kong exhibitor at Home InStyle, said: “The number of new buyers visiting our booth has doubled over last year, coming mainly from Asia, the Middle East and South America. The fair attracted fashion buyers and also drew a children’s product exhibitor’s interest in partnering with us to develop eco-friendly tableware. It is expected that this fair will bring us approximately US$100,000 in sales.”

A German buyer at the Gifts & Premium FairMichael Baumann, a partner in Know How International GmbH & Co KG, said: “I sourced products from India, Vietnam and Bangladesh as souvenirs and giveaways for the European football league. Additionally, I identified a sports bag supplier and a recycled paper box supplier from Mainland China, as well as a metal souvenir supplier from Hong Kong, with a potential total order value of approximately US$2.3 million to US$2.8 million. I am also highly interested in the licensed animated characters from a mainland exhibitor, with a potential order value of up to US$600,000.”

In response to global trade challenges, exhibitors are prioritising market diversification and actively pursuing new customer acquisition. Hong Kong exhibitor Moral Team Holdings Ltd has participated in the Gifts & Premium Fair for 17 years, focusing on the development of eco-friendly bag products. The company’s Marketing & Ecommerce Manager, Charlotte Chui, said: “The new US tariff policies have impacted 10% of our export share, prompting us to focus more on the Asian market at this stage. The Gifts & Premium Fair has provided us with a platform to connect with buyers from Japan, Singapore and Taiwan. Our mid- to long-term plan is expanding into the Australian and European markets. The concurrent fairs have attracted interest from fashion and houseware buyers. On the first day alone, we secured several orders from the Asian market and anticipate achieving total sales of over US$500,000 at the fair.”

Fairs drive the development of high-value cultural and creative industries
Cultural and creative products that combine design and functionality are attracting significant attention from buyers. Stanley Kwok, Director of KnitWarm Ltd, a Hong Kong exhibitor at Home InStyle, said “We showcased our patented heat-conductive smart textile technology products in the Cultural and Creative Avenue and Gerontech Living Pavilion. Buyers from Japan, Mainland China, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK and the US, as well as social workers in Hong Kong, have expressed interest in our four-in-one warmer blanket cushions and warmer band series. We are confident that the fair will generate at least US$200,000 in sales for our company.” Taiwan buyer William Wu, owner of Royal Best Group Corp, said: “I was impressed by the home trends highlighted in the collaboration between the Cultural and Creative Avenue and Pantone. I connected with exhibitors from the Czech Republic, Taiwan, Hong Kong and more, and plan to make purchases of houseware products totalling US$50,000 to US$100,000 this year. I’m particularly interested in the Czech incense stick holder and look forward to future collaboration opportunities.”

Global new materials at Fashion InStyle drive cross-sector interest
This year saw the launch of NEXT@Fashion InStyle at Fashion InStyle a new highlighted zone organised by the HKTDC and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the HKSAR Government. Han Chong, founder and creative director of Self-Portrait, joined as the zone’s ambassador. NEXT@Fashion InStyle was dedicated to establishing a collaborative platform for sustainable and new materials for buyers and exhibitors, as well as designer brands, successfully connecting a buyer from Malaysia, Richard Tsen, founder of CollbStore, with Indonesian exhibitor PT Miko Bahtera Nusantara (MYCL). Mr Tsen said: “I am very interested in the company’s mushroom leather material and was amazed by its solidness and coating after the baking process. This inspired me to apply it to my designer label. I also referred them to the Malaysian Furniture Design Institute to let them explore the creation of mushroom leather furniture. I believe it has the potential to make a significant impact and resonate within the Malaysian and wider Asian market.”

Mary Ma, owner-principal of Textile Library, a mainland exhibitor at Fashion InStyle, expressed keen interest in leveraging the exhibition to explore establishing a base in Hong Kong. She said: “Hong Kong is a vibrant crossroads where eastern and western cultures meet. It connects factories across Southeast Asia and attracts European and American buyers.” Chinamind Next Interculture Group, the parent company of renowned fashion industry publication WWD China, also recognised the strategic advantages of Hong Kong as a gateway connecting the mainland with the world, signing a memorandum of understanding with the HKTDC during the fair.

Diverse creativity unlocks new licensing opportunities

Chengdu Chenghau Butterflies Huatian Culture Development Co Ltd, one of the exhibitors at the HKILS, signed a cooperation agreement with Sureka.Z Limited worth RMB2 million during the show. The former granted Sureka.Z Limited the performance rights for 10 shows of Panda the Musical in Hong Kong and Macao. At the ALC, meanwhile, leaders from the industry shared their insights on the trends and opportunities in the creative industry. Gabriel Kwong, Panda IP Creator, Ocean Park Hong Kong and Co-Founder of Air World Limited said: “Our edge is being able to see the world from a panda’s perspective, and as a park that raises pandas we can immediately gather real-life materials and transform them into IP content. The interplay between reality and virtual elements makes our IP increasingly entertaining.”

The Printing & Packaging Fair and DeLuxe PrintPack Hong Kong also created business opportunities for the industry. Zahoor A Qurashi, CEO of Regal Pack, a buyer from the UK, shared: “The fair featured a wide range of sustainable products, including luxury options such as skincare and perfume packaging, as well as ribbons, alongside practical everyday solutions like food and beverage packaging. I placed an order worth US$80,000 with one supplier and am optimistic about future collaborations. Additionally, I made an initial order of US$40,000 with another supplier for heat-expandable cups, which has the potential to grow significantly, possibly reaching US$1 million.”

Seamless online-offline integration drives business engagement
The seven events adopted the EXHIBITION+ online-offline integrated model, enabling buyers to continue discussions with exhibitors online during and after the fairs, extending business interactions beyond the physical event.

CIRC: Attained a New High in Fiscal Year 2024

– Continuoued to consolidate The leading position of nuclear medicine and facilitated the development of nuclear medical equipment as a new engine

In recent years, with the launch of top-level design for nuclear medicines and the implementation of supporting policies, the domestic nuclear medicine industry has ushered in a golden period of development. According to the data analysis of BCC Research, there will be a growth in the global nuclear medicine market from $12.6 billion in 2023 to $21 billion by the end of 2029, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.29% during the forecast period from 2024 to 2029. Meanwhile, Medraysintell, a market intelligence agency specializing in radiotherapy and nuclear medicine, predicts that there will be a growth of about $30 billion in the global nuclear medicine market in 2030.

As a leading nuclear medicine company in China, CIRC (01763.HK) recently disclosed its annual report for 2024 as of December 31st. In 2024, CIRC achieved a remarkable growth in revenue and net profit, which not only delivered a satisfactory answer on the performance level, but also showed a strong technical transformation capability in nuclear medicine research and development.

Year-by-year growth facilitated nuclear medical equipment to become a new engine
According to the financial data, CIRC achieved revenue of RMB 7.575 billion in 2024, with a year-on-year increase of 14.2%, and the net profit of RMB 880 million, with a year-on-year increase of 13.3%.

From the perspective of branch business, all fields have blossomed in an all-round way. As the core pillar of the company, the nuclear medicine business achieved revenue of RMB 4.168 billion, accounting for 55% of the total revenue. Among them, the income of imaging diagnosis and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals increased by 4.1% year-on-year, and the distribution of medical centers all over the country achieved remarkable results. The income of Technetium-labeled medicines increased by 8.7% year-on-year. The breath test business continued to maintain a stable high market share, achieving revenue of RMB 2.35 billion, by a year-on-year increase of 1.1%.

It is worth noting that in 2024, CIRC accelerated the localization of high-end radiotherapy equipment, and nuclear medical equipment and related services became the new engine of growth, with revenue reaching RMB 1.223 billion, a year-on-year increase of 31.0%. The new generation of Precision radiation therapy planning system was successfully approved for medical device registration certificate, and the world’s first spiral tomotherapy system, Tomo C, was delivered to Shandong Cancer Hospital for installation, which was successfully selected intothe 2024 high-end medical equipment promotion and application project of two ministries and commissions (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology/National Health Commission) and Tianjin First (Set) Major Technical Equipment Promotion and Application Guidance Catalog (Version 2024), with sales during the year leading in the domestic market.

CIRC recorded RMB 716.1 million in revenue from radioactive source products, representing a year-on-year increase of 22.2%. Gamma knife source and non-destructive testing radioactive source continued to maintain a stable and high market share. CNNC Qinshan Isotope successfully obtained the Class A radiation safety license, and the cobalt-60 radioactive source production line delivered 2 million curies.

40-year solid accumulation in nuclear technology laid a solid foundation

As the main body of the nuclear technology application industry of CNNC, CIRC has been accumulated in the industry for over 40 years, forming a “6+N” industrial layout with six major businesses as the core, including nuclides, nuclear medicines, nuclear medical equipment, integrated solution for nuclear medicine, radioactive source and application, and irradiation application. During the Reporting Period, CIRC achieved 224 patent authorizations, with a total of 969 valid patents, and continued to maintain the leading position of the R&D investment intensity in the industry.

In the field of nuclear medicine research and development, CIRC has demonstrated a strong technical capability from research results turned into technologies. Sodium fluorine-18 injection obtained the drug registration certificate from the National Medical Products Administration and was approved for marketing, filling the market gap of PET diagnostic imaging agent in the field of bone imaging in China. Iodine-131-MIBG injection is close to the end of Phase III clinical trial. After the drug is launched, it will provide a new diagnostic method for neuroendocrine tumors such as pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma. It is worth noting that CIRC has proactively laid out integrated diagnosis and treatment drugs, and the research and development of Lutetium-177oxyoctreotide injection is progressing smoothly, marking a strategic upgrade from simple diagnosis to precise diagnosis and treatment.

In addition to stabilizing the base of nuclear medicine, CIRC has gradually increased its emphasis on nuclear medical equipment. According to the sales data in recent years, the income of nuclear medical equipment has steadily increased. In 2024, a new generation of Gamma Knife was approved, which integrated CBCT image guidance, six-dimensional bed auto-correction, and other intelligent technologies, and the treatment efficiency was improved by 30%. In the Class A large-scale medical equipment market, CIRC occupies an absolute dominant position through its holding subsidiary, CNNC ACCURAY. In February this year, 19 of the 28 high-end radiotherapy equipment in the second round of Class A large-scale medical equipment licensing list released by the National Health Commission came from CNNC ACCURAY, accounting for 68% of the market. It is worth noting that the breakthroughs in the fields of Cobalt-60-based Stereotactic Therapy System also promote the localization of radiotherapy equipment.

image

Facing the explosive growth of the nuclear medicine market, CIRC Accelerated Pharmaceutical Center continues to expand its nationwide network layout. In 2024, a new positron emission drug production line has been added in Lanzhou, with a total of 23 lines put into operation; Newly added Fuzhou Technetium Drug Production Line, with a total of 27 units put into operation. CIRC has built the first 10,000 Curie level lutetium-177 production line and a thousand level germanium-gallium [68Ge-68Ga] generator production line in the country, achieving a breakthrough in the localization of high-end nuclides.

It is worth noting that CIRC has created a hierarchical innovation ecosystem through the “Parent-Subsidiary Collaboration” model. In 2024, its subsidiaries, CNNC HEADWAY (breath test) and CNNC Chengdu Gaotong (nuclide), were awarded the national level specialized, refined, and new “little giants” enterprise, bringing the total number of specialized, refined, and new enterprises under CIRC to 18. Among them, CNNC HEADWAY dominates the breath testing market with its integrated solution of “medicine box+instrument”, while CNNC Chengdu Gaotong has become a benchmark in the field of nuclear technology application through its full chain layout of “Nuclide-Drug-Equipment”. This innovative system, resembling an “Aircraft carrier battle group”, provides sustainable momentum for the company’s long-term growth.

Expanding Development Space with Globalization Layout

As the main force of CNNC Group’s march towards people’s life and health science and technology and the main channel for the transformation of advanced nuclear science and technology achievements, CIRC responds to the Group’s “Overall&Coordination” internationalization strategy and the national “the Belt and Road” initiative, vigorously promotes the internationalization strategy and constantly expands overseas markets. By 2024, the export revenue will reach RMB 627 million, and the products will be exported to dozens of countries and regions such as Brazil, Peru, and Nigeria.

At the beginning of this year, we successfully signed a contract for the supply of equipment for a million curies design source gamma irradiation station in Bangladesh. This is another equipment supply project for irradiation stations that has landed after winning the bid for the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture’s design source gamma irradiation station project in 2024. After its completion and operation, the irradiation station will mainly serve the irradiation sterilization of medical products in Bangladesh, significantly improving the quality level and production processing capacity of local medical products, assisting the development of Bangladesh’s medical industry, and benefiting local people’s livelihoods.

In Nigeria, CIRC successfully signed a contract for the overall supply of nuclear medical equipment, achieving the first successful landing of the Group’s nuclear medical equipment overall supply project. In addition, CIRC actively expands into the ASEAN market and successfully exports cold chain drugs to Thailand; We have also signed strategic cooperation agreements with multiple entities in Brazil to support the signing of a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in the field of nuclear technology applications between the National Atomic Energy Agency and Brazil.

Conclusion

Against the backdrop of policy support and sustained market demand, CIRC stated to focus on the “Do as the Demard of the Country” and further deepen the coordinated development of nuclear medicine and high-end equipment around the “Healthy China” strategic framework. According to its 2025 plan, key projects such as Qinshan Isotope Base, Phase I of Jiajiang Radioactive Source Base, and Phase I of North China Pharmaceutical Base will be promoted according to milestones, involving nuclide production, radioactive source manufacturing, and pharmaceutical supply chain layout. At the same time, CIRC will enhance its digital diagnosis and treatment service capabilities through the iteration of smart nuclear medicine projects, and plans to launch no less than 3 intelligent systems within this year.

At the international level, CIRC will continue the market expansion strategy along the “the Belt and Road”, rely on the existing business models such as radiation station equipment export, nuclear medical equipment overall solution output, focus on the cooperation in South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and other regional markets, and further improve the global market penetration rate in the future or through localized cooperation.

The management of the Company stated that in 2025, CIRC will continue to strengthen technological innovation, improve the modern industrial system, accelerate the cultivation and development of new quality productivity, continuously enhance core functions, improve core competitiveness, and accelerate the establishment of an internationally-renowned supply group of technology, product and service in isotope and radiation.

Doubleview Gold Corp. (TSXV:DBG)(OTCQB:DBLVF)(FSE:1D4) (the “Company” or “Doubleview”) is pleased to share its plans for the upcoming 2025 exploration season for its 100% owned BC projects. Based on the Company’s successful 2024 exploration season, which included publishing the Hat Project’s maiden resource estimate (‘MRE V1′), exceptional high-grade drill results from its 10,000m drill program (please see the Company’s news release from February 05, 2025) and the recently announced collaboration of the Company with Her Excellency Sheikha Sara Nasser Al-Thani of Qmission of Qatar (please see the Company’s news release from March 05, 2025), Doubleview is readying its field crews for the upcoming field season.

Hat Project – 2025 Program of WorkDoubleview is setting out to continue building on its exploration success at its polymetallic Hat Project. The 2024 drill results have provided important information which is supporting the Company’s geological team in understanding the evolution of, and ultimately the entire Hat Deposit (“Hat” or “Deposit”) system. The goals of the upcoming drill season are to continue to expand and build the resource to higher levels of confidence, to test newly identified targets to the northwest and east of the Deposit, and to find the source of the system that created the Hat Deposit.

Details for the environmental sampling program are currently being finalized. Doubleview’s intensions are to implement this work to fulfill regulatory requirements necessary towards further development of the Hat Project. The Preliminary Economic Assessment (“HAT PEA”) with an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (“HAT MRE 2.0”) is steadily progressing as expected.

President & CEO Farshad Shirvani states: “After achieving several milestones for the Hat Project, it is time to continue its development. Our field crew, technical team and I are excited about the newly acquired information which will guide this year’s efforts. Our goals are to find the porphyry system’s source, to further advance the integrity of the resource estimate categories, to continue advancing environmental work and building stakeholder relationships. There are less than 90 drill holes at the Hat Project, and we have been able to show tremendous results. At the same time, it is very clear that there are many more opportunities to enhance the Hat Deposit that our team is eager to explore.” Mr. Shirvani added: “The Company is continuing its dialogue with Her Excellency Sara Nasser Al-Thani of Qmission of Qatar to build a strong relationship to explore optimal opportunities for both sides. With the worldwide growing attention on critical minerals, by governments and major mining companies alike, we believe that the Company is a great position.”

Red Spring – 2025 Exploration ProgramPart of Doubleview’s portfolio of projects is Red Spring, which is located in central BC, Canada. It is a copper-silver-gold project which in recent exploration programs showed elevated zinc values. With copper and zinc being elements that are listed as Critical Minerals by the Canadian Government, the Red Spring project merits a well-tailored exploration program. For this season an extensive ground IP program is planned which will be followed-up by drilling based on the IP results. The goal of the exploration program is to build on existing data and together with the new results, narrow down the potential deposit type. Currently the two potential deposit types in focus for the project are sediment hosted copper-silver deposits and Eskay Creek type deposits.

Doubleview maintains a website at www.doubleview.ca.

HKTDC Export Confidence Index 1Q25

– Export confidence remains positive despite growing trade tensions

HONG KONG, Mar 26, 2025 – (ACN Newswire) – The findings of the 1Q25 HKTDC Export Confidence Index showed confidence among Hong Kong exporters has risen moderately, despite the sizable tariff hikes imposed by the US on its trading partners around the world.

In specific terms, the Current Performance Index (a measure of actual performance for the quarter in question) rose by 1.8 points to 52.1. Equally reassuringly, the Expectation Index (a measure of confidence in likely performance in the coming quarter) was up by 1.0 points to 51.0. Both readings were above the watermark level of 50, which can be taken as confirming general optimism with regard to future export prospects.

Given the likely impact of the series of higher tariffs imposed by the US in the last two months, the HKTDC has slightly adjusted its 2025 Hong Kong export growth forecast from 4% to 3%. There remains a downside risk to the forecast given the uncertainty over any future escalation in global trade tension.

Commenting on the revised forecast and the 1Q25 findings, Irina Fan, Director of HKTDC Research, said: “It’s a testament to the resilience of Hong Kong’s export sector that growth is still indicated. While export business may be growing at a moderately slower rate than had been initially anticipated, there are still many reasons to be optimistic.”

“This is partly down to the agility and flexibility many Hong Kong exporters have demonstrated in terms of strategies for future-proofing their business activities.”

From the findings of the 1Q25 survey, it is clear a range of strategies, including diversifying sourcing, expanding into new markets and the relocation of production lines, have been very much front-of-mind for many of Hong Kong’s export-oriented businesses. These moves, it is believed, will help enterprises mitigate the adverse effects of any current or future protectionist measures.

Overall, despite a more challenging global trade backdrop, it was encouraging to note the majority of survey respondents (75.4%) remained confident their 2025 net profit margins would either rise or remain stable. This was notably higher than the 72.1% of respondents expressing the same sentiment in 4Q24, while also being the highest such figure for 12 months.

In terms of market prospects, uncertainties over its trading stance have inevitably clouded the general views of the US. Tellingly, the Current Performance figure for the country was 47.8, with its 3.1 point quarter-on-quarter decline taking it below the watermark level of 50 for the first time in 12 months.

Exporter sentiment, however, remained largely positive when looking beyond the US market, particularly with reference to Mainland China, the EU and the ASEAN bloc. In all, the Current Performance Index reading for Mainland China was up 6.7 points to 59.0 (compared to 4Q24) while the comparable finding for the EU was up 3.8 points to 50.1. The reading for the ASEAN bloc (56.4), meanwhile, remained solidly in expansionary territory.

Nicholas Fu, Senior Economist, said “A similar pattern was in evidence in the case of the Expectation Index. This saw Mainland China up 3.0 points to 55.7, followed by the ASEAN bloc (53.0) and the EU (52.7). The US was again down, falling by 4.3 points to hit a one-year low of 46.7.”

In terms of more general findings, Jewellery (at 53.1 points) was the most upbeat industry sector with regard to 1Q25 Current Performance, followed by Electronics (52.3) and Timepieces (51.2). In terms of Expectation, Jewellery (54.4), Equipment/Materials (52.6) and Timepiece (51.1) exporters were most optimistic as to their likely future performance.

Appendix

The HKTDC Export Confidence Index has been designed to provide a comprehensive overview of Hong Kong exporter sentiment. It comprises two primary / overall indices, one of which gauges the Current Performance with regard to the surveyed quarter, while the other considers Expectation for the upcoming quarter. The findings of both indices are based on a weighted average of five sub-indices – Sales and New Orders, Trade Value, Cost, Procurement, and Inventory.

Full details of the methodology / definitions relating to the HKTDC Export Confidence Index can be found in the Appendix section of the full quarterly report.
