Grass-fed provenance and advanced R&D connect European dairy from Ireland with Singapore’s food innovation ecosystem and regional HQs

Building on the success of the European dairy exports from Ireland to Asia, which exceeded €440 million in 2024, the European Union and Ireland today launched the “European Dairy – Ireland, Where Nature Meets Science” campaign. This €3.2 million co-funded investment aims to strengthen Asia’s nutrition pipeline and foster long-term trade partnerships. Positioning Singapore as the regional hub, the three-year project running until 2028 will focus on building supply resilience, and driving new partnerships across Singapore, China, and Vietnam.  

Singapore stands at the heart of Asia’s food innovation and trade ecosystem. Its world-class safety standards, research infrastructure, and regional influence empower European dairy to meet Asia’s demand for sustainable, traceable, and science-driven ingredients in a volatile global market.  

Her Excellency Sarah McGrath, Ambassador of Ireland to Singapore, said, “This campaign is a symbol of Ireland’s commitment to strengthening the bridges between Europe and Asia. By launching in Singapore, we are reinforcing not only a vital trade relationship but also our shared pursuit of innovation, research, and sustainable development in food. HKTDC Chairman promotes Hong Kong’s business advantages in Thailand

  • Meeting government and business leaders to enhance Hong Kong-ASEAN ties

To promote Hong Kong’s business advantages and enhance trade and economic cooperation between Hong Kong and Thailand and the wider ASEAN region, Prof Frederick Ma, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), visited Bangkok and met with senior government and business leaders.

Prof Ma spoke on a panel at the Singapore Regional Business Forum organised by the Singapore Business Federation. He said, “Businesses are diversifying amid the changing landscape. Asia remains a major engine for economic growth, underpinned by the rise of emerging markets, like ASEAN and the Middle East. China, with its industrial base and vast population, is a stabilising force in an ever-changing world. And Hong Kong, given its superconnector and super value-adder roles, is a dynamic platform linking Mainland China with the world.”

Aside from the event, Prof Ma met with Chantawit Tantasith, Deputy Minister of Commerce of Thailand, and Dhanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, to exchange views on deepening Hong Kong-Thailand trade and economic cooperation.

Prof Ma noted: “Thailand is an important trade and investment partner for Hong Kong. I am delighted that I had the opportunity to exchange insights with the Ministry of Commerce and leading enterprises in Thailand as well as political and business leaders from Singapore to further strengthen the economic ties between Hong Kong and Thailand and the wider ASEAN region.”

Global Property Expo | Singapore 2025 attracts 2,500 Buyers With Intent, 40+ Exhibitors, with Projects spanning 20 Countries

The inaugural Global Property Expo | Singapore 2025, organised by JLL (NYSE: JLL), Asia’s first and largest dedicated platform for international residential real estate, successfully wrapped up after three vibrant days at Sands Expo & Convention Centre.

Spanning 8,000 sqm of exhibition space, the Expo brought together a truly global audience and showcased the dynamic future of property investment. Small Businesses Embrace Social — But Could be Missing a Trick in the Age of AI

According to the GoDaddy 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Survey, nearly half of small businesses in now primarily operate online, using websites, marketplaces, or social media to sell. This shows a clear shift as entrepreneurs embrace digital channels to reach customers, grow sales, and stay competitive in today’s market.

Social Media: A Key Tool with Real Challenges

Social media plays a major role in how small businesses operate and grow. 80% of entrepreneurs say it’s important to their sales strategy, and half (50%) say it’s very important. It has also become the top place to learn about running a business: 59% turn to social media for insights, ahead of traditional educational resources like books and blogs (40%), and artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT (37%).

But while the value is clear, so are the challenges. When it comes to managing their social media presence, many entrepreneurs struggle with content. 37% say it’s hard to come up with engaging ideas for posts, and another 33% don’t have enough time to create and post regularly. Even when content is shared, converting engagement into sales remains difficult—51% say they have trouble converting followers into customers, and 54% can’t reach the right audience.

The Rise of Digital-First Small Businesses

Running a business today means going beyond a physical store. While 31% of small businesses still work mainly from a physical location, the online world is catching up with 19% now run their business primarily through their own website. Another 28% operate mostly on social media.

Sales channels also reflect this shift. Though 36% sell in person, 18% use online stores or marketplaces, and another 31% sell directly through social media.

This mix of physical and digital approaches shows that small businesses are finding new ways to meet customers—whether in-store, online, or on social media. The ability to combine different methods indicates a significant evolution in business’ ability to adapt to customers’ needs and preferences.

The Need for Smarter Tools and AI Support

As entrepreneurs go digital, many know exactly what would help them sell on social. More than half (59%) say they need better ways to reach the right audience, almost half (48%) want simpler tools for creating and posting content, and over a third (39%) want insights into what is working and is not, highlighting a clear demand for practical, time-saving solutions.

UOB Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the ASEAN Conference 2025 in Singapore, marking a significant milestone in regional collaboration between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and ASEAN.
