Signing Contracts for US$49.3M, PIS (Pertamina) Now Sails across 26 International Routes

PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), through its branch office in Dubai, PIS Middle East (PIS ME), has achieved another success by simultaneously signing four business cooperation agreements with global players.

PIS Pte Ltd (DMCC Branch) – PIS Middle East has signed business cooperation agreements with global players, namely with Gas Walio, Gas Widuri, Gas Arjuna and Gas Ambalat, for 4 vessels owned by PIS.

PIS ME signed the deals for 4 vessels owned by PIS – namely the Gas Walio vessel, Gas Widuri vessel, Gas Arjuna and Gas Ambalat vessels. The Gas Arjuna and Ambalat vessels are chartered by SHV Gas Supply & Risk Management, the Gas Walio vessel is chartered by Geogas Trading S.A, and the Gas Widuri vessel is chartered by Vitol S.A.

“The signing of this cooperation signifies the success of PIS ME’s aggressiveness in increasing revenue in the international market, as well as proving the reliability of PIS’s fleet which is qualified to sail in global scale waters,” said PIS CEO Yoki Firnandi at the signing ceremony on Tuesday, July 25.

The total transaction value for the four ship deal reached US$49.34 million, or the equivalent to Rp740.15 billion (dollar exchange rate of Rp15,000) with different contract durations ranging from 6 months to 3 years. The contracts also provided for new international routes and countries for the PIS fleet, including Chile (South America), Puerto Rico (USA), Dominican Republic (Caribbean), Tanzania, Poland, and Portugal.

Country Manager of PIS ME Andra Pelawi added that in addition to the successful commercialization of the four vessels, PIS ME has broken new business ground which will add to the company’s revenue potential. “Pertamina has, through PIS ME, entered Tankers International Pool, and a TC Syndication scheme with Scorpio for a Neptune VLGC vessel in the pool. PIS will have the potential for vessel rental at international market rates,” he said.

Through this breakthrough scheme by PIS, carried out initially during the second quarter of 2023 (since the VLGC vessel entered the pool in early May, through to the end of the quarter), PIS ME managed to realize a profit of around US$865 thousand, or the equivalent to Rp12.97 billion (dollar exchange rate of Rp15,000).

BayWa r.e.’s Unwavering Dedication to the Community of Lang Son Province with Improved Commune Cultural House

Global renewable energy developer, service provider and solar distributor, BayWa r.e announced the successful completion and handover of the Khau Dang Commune Cultural House in Lang Son Province, Vietnam. This exemplifies BayWa r.e.’s unwavering dedication to actively supporting and enriching the communities in which it operates, as well as nurturing enduring relationships with the community it serves.

BayWa r.e., in close collaboration with the Van Quan district people’s committee, supported the construction of the commune cultural house located at Khau Dang hamlet, Trang Cac Commune. The new commune cultural house will be able to foster community cohesion, facilitate annual general meetings and accommodate diverse activities, benefitting 500 people in more than 94 households, mostly Tay and Nung people who belong to the ethnic minority group.

The 360 square metre (m2) facility is a substantial increase from the previous culture house, which could only host 25 individuals. The project started construction in March 2023 and was officially handed over on 6 June 2023.

Vietnam, said, “The commune cultural house would never have been realised if not for the continuous efforts made by the local district and villagers in overseeing this project. The new commune cultural house will encourage residents in the Khau Dang Village to organise cultural, sports and entertainment activities, helping them to bond and improve their quality of life with recreational activities. This initiative also meets the needs of the Vietnamese government’s National Targeted Program on New Rural Development under criteria six, cultural facilities, where we can hold larger events for the entire commune.”

The Khau Dang Commune Cultural House is the fourth project targeting the residents in the Lang Son province since 2021. In two years, BayWa r.e. built two sanitation facilities for two local primary schools in the Loc Binh district and supported the Cao Loc district’s initiative to recognise top-performing students and teachers by awarding scholarships, prize money and school bags.

ARC Technologies Seeks Buyer for Rights to Patented Biogas Upgrading Designs

ARC Technologies Corporation (ARC) is offering for sale the worldwide rights to its patent-protected biogas processing technology. ARC’s founder, Stan Siegel, is retiring after 30 years in biogas technology development and execution, and is seeking a buyer of his company’s technology and assets to further implement the groundbreaking process in new and existing facilities.

ARC Technologies Biogas Upgrading PSA System Installed at Dekalb County, Georgia USA

ARC’s complete solution for Biogas Upgrading to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) collects, separates and purifies biomethane from generating sources, including anaerobic digesters, wastewater treatment plants and landfills. The technology has a scalable methodology and can be applied to a wide range of installations through modular sizing and operate remotely. This proprietary system is proven in multiple RNG installations in North America.

The overall process includes several distinct separation systems to remove all biogas contaminants, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), non-methane organic compounds (NMOCs), carbon dioxide (CO2) and high percentages of air (oxygen and nitrogen). The system yields virtually 100% recovery of biomethane product, and the ability for carbon capture and recovery, eliminating the need for digester and landfill flares satisfying CFR 60.752(b)(2)(iii) (C) as the control device for Title V permits. This is unlike many conventional processes that require biogas NMOCs or separated off-gases to be thermally destructed, which reduces a project’s carbon intensity (CI) footprint.

With the sale, ARC is offering: all patents, software, trade secrets, design drawings, manufacturing drawings and documents, operational documents and know-how, and other intellectual property rights of ARC in any or all applicable jurisdictions, domestic or international, for the complete proprietary biogas upgrading process. Also included are plans and drawings for five existing RNG plants and the inventor’s time to enable transfer of the technology. ARC’s patent for “method and system for methane separation and purification from a biogas” includes the United States Patent #US8568512B2, Canada Patent #CA2834700C, European Union Patent #EP2701824A4, Australia Patent #AU2011366910B2, Russia Federation of States Patent #RU255881C2, South Korea Patent #KR101886900B1, China Patent #CN103561844B, India Patent #301961 and Brazil Patent #BR112013027793B1.

In 2013, the Dekalb County Renewable Fuels Facility was awarded “Project of the Year” by the EPA’s Landfill Methane Outreach Program. The facility utilizes the ARC Technologies biogas upgrading technology. RNG is injected into the nearby Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) pipeline, while the remaining RNG is then dispensed to county vehicles and the public at the onsite fueling station.
