TransNusa Welcomes 2025 by Launching Bali – Perth International Route

PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri (TransNusa), the new player with new rules, kick starts 2025 by introducing a new international route from Indonesia’s renowned tourism destination, Bali to Perth, Australia.

TransNusa started selling the flight tickets, which are priced from IDR 1.799.000 onwards, AUD 169 onwards, CNY 782 onwards, USD 163 onwards, and MYR 514 onwards, on January 15. The TransNusa flight tickets can be purchased at transnusa.co.id or any secure online travel agent.

TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Bernard Francis said that TransNusa has introduced this new international route in order to provide passengers with additional travel choices.

“The Bali – Perth international route is a golden route as the highest number of tourists, almost every year, in Bali are from Perth. Hence, the demand for this route is equally significant,” said Datuk Bernard, adding that TransNusa will be launching the maiden flight from Bali to Perth on March 20, this year.

On the details of the scheduled flights, Datuk Bernard explained, “Initially, TransNusa will operate three scheduled flights a week, which will be on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. From April 12, we will increase the frequency to four times a week by adding another flight on Tuesday and eventually increase the frequency to a daily flight from June 1 onwards.”

TransNusa’s scheduled flight, 8B 080 (DPS-PER), will depart Bali at 09.10am from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and arrive the Perth Airport at 12.50pm. The flight, 8B 081 (PER-DPS), will depart Perth Airport at 13.35pm and arrive at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali on 17.20pm. TransNusa will be utilising its Airbus A320 that has a seat capacity of 174 for this international route that has a 3 hours and 40 minutes flight duration.

Apart from the Bali-Perth international route, TransNusa also operates scheduled flights from Bali to Indonesia’s diving haven, Manado. TransNusa has five scheduled flights to Manado from Bali on a weekly basis. As such, tourists from Perth will also have an opportunity to visit Manado with a direct flight from Perth.

For its international flights, TransNusa not only provide premium services with competitive ticket prices, but the airline also has attractive product bundles called SEAT, SEAT-PLUS and FLEXI-PRO.

“Our passengers will enjoy check-in baggage of between 15kgs to 30 kgs, depending on the product purchased,” Datuk Bernard said, explaining that the baggage offering was over and above the 7kgs limit offered as a passenger’s hand carry.

“For the highest package, FLEXI-PRO, we provide more complete services such as free baggage 30kgs, free to choose seats, free food, and drinks, priority at check-in and boarding. In addition, TransNusa also provides its FLEXI-PRO passengers with the ability to be able to change their flight schedule without restrictions and obtain refund when needed.”

TransNusa, which aims to ensure its passengers travel with ease and comfort, has also configured their A320s with a 174-seat configuration, which allows for passengers to enjoy about 30 inches of legroom, comparable to the experience passengers would get in a full-service airline.

“We are committed to providing affordable and competitive ticket prices, while still providing premium services to our customers.” Stressed Datuk Bernard.

TransNusa, A Short History

TransNusa, which had to close its business operation in September 2020 due to impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the aviation industry, started operations again after injection of new shareholders and a new management team led by aviation expert, Datuk Bernard, in October 2022.

Within 6 months, the airline introduced its first international route between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur and celebrated its first-year anniversary for this route on April 14, 2024.

“When we re-launched TransNusa in October 2022, we started from the bottom again. We had no aircraft or roadmap to follow. Everything was new because the pandemic had broken the aviation business operations boundaries. We re-created and customised our business operations and strategy model of being the first Premium Service Carrier based on the post-pandemic scenario,” Datuk Bernard explained.

TransNusa launched its first international route between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur in April, 2023, after which the airline successfully launched three more new international routes by the end of 2023. TransNusa’s aggressive international growth strategy combined with its domestic business operations approach has enabled the airline to be the fastest growing airline in South East Asia.

Since the takeover of new shareholders and the injection of a new management team, TransNusa has been contributing and changing the aviation landscape in Indonesia. It has been making headlines in Malaysia, Singapore, China and around the world with news of being the first airline in Indonesia and the world to develop and introduce a new domestic route connecting Bali and Manado. TransNusa also became the second Indonesian airline to receive approval to fly to China and provided Indonesians with more pricing and route options to China.

West Air to Launch New International Route: Lhasa – Chongqing – Singapore on December 25, 2024

From December 25, 2024, West Air will launch a new Lhasa ⇌ Chongqing ⇌ Singapore international route. The opening of this route will promote cultural exchanges between western China and Singapore. It is also the first international route to be added since the official renaming of Lhasa Gongga International Airport.

The route will be operated by an Airbus A319 with three round-trip flights per week. The outbound flight number is PN6425, operating on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, departing from Lhasa at 17:40, arriving in Chongqing at 20:30, departing from Chongqing at 22:50 (23:00 on Mondays), and arriving in Singapore at 03:55 the next day.

The return flight number is PN6426, operating on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, departing from Singapore at 04:55, arriving in Chongqing at 09:40, departing from Chongqing at 12:20, and arriving in Lhasa at 15:20.

Lhasa, the “City of Sunshine,” is the “spiritual home” of many travelers. Its rich religious culture and historical sites give it an atmosphere of tranquility and mystery. The magnificent Potala Palace, the lofty Tanggula Mountains, and the crystal-blue Namtso Lake attract tourists from all over the world. The new route builds a “two-way bridge” between the snowy plateau and the tropical island.

Chongqing, as the operational center for the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Project, has strong strategic alignment with Singapore. The new route will serve as a bridge linking western China and the ASEAN region, creating an “air corridor” for the development of a new land-sea corridor in the west. This route will also play a significant role in promoting economic, trade, cultural, and tourism exchanges between Lhasa, Chongqing, and Singapore.

Following the implementation of the China-Singapore Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement on February 9, 2024, Ordinary Passport Holders can now embark on a “just-go” journey. As a friendly neighbor of China, Singapore has no time difference, a welcoming Chinese-speaking environment, year-round summer temperatures, and excellent infrastructure. Singapore remains a top destination, offering everything from Michelin-starred restaurants and Nanyang street food to garden city landscapes and multicultural experiences.

To celebrate the launch, West Air will introduce specialfares:

  • Lhasa ⇌ Singapore round-trip tickets as low as RMB 1,888 (tax included)
  • Chongqing ⇌ Singapore round-trip tickets as low as RMB 1,499 (tax included)

Promotions will also be available on West Air’s official website (www.westair.cn) and TikTok live streams. One-way fares to Singapore start at RMB 350 (excluding tax), and fares from Singapore start at SGD 70 (excluding tax). (Offers are subject to availability. Prices may change; please refer to official updates.)

West Air is also offering a range of travel-friendly policies:

  • 10% discounts for tickets purchased 7 days in advance for small group travelers.
  • Additional 20KG baggage allowance for international students and immediate family members (available via call center 95373 or at the counter).
  • “Baggage Beneficial Offer” product, providing a 30KG free baggage limit.
  • Preferential fares for connecting flights through intermodal transport with Hainan Airlines and other domestic partners.

About West Air

As a subsidiary of HNA Airlines, West Air continues to strengthen its operations under Liaoning Fangda Group, which celebrates its third anniversary on December 8, 2024. In alignment with the Chongqing Municipal Government’s goals, West Air has consistently expanded its international routes originating from Chongqing. Since 2016, the airline has launched direct routes from Chongqing to Singapore, Phuket, Osaka, Mandalay, Jeju, Bangkok, and Hanoi, forming a robust international network across Asia. These routes have strengthened Chongqing’s connectivity with key Asian destinations, contributing to local economic development and supporting the city’s growth as a leading aviation hub.

Looking ahead, West Air will expand its investments in “Belt and Road” countries and open additional routes to meet growing passenger demand while supporting national strategies and regional development.

  • TransNusa Establishes Strategic Alliance With AIROD

PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AIROD Aerospace Technologies Sdn Bhd, establishing a strategic alliance with the Malaysian aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) service provider.

In addition, TransNusa also signed a Standard Ground Handling Agreement (SGHA) with AIROD for Technical Handling of its aircrafts at Subang Airport. TransNusa became the first foreign airline to received approvals and start scheduled flights from Jakarta to Subang in August, this year. The airline currently operates daily scheduled flights from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta to Subang Airport.

TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Bernard Francis said “Today’s MOU and SGHA will initially focus on the provision of MRO services by AIROD for our Airbus A320 aircraft family.

He added that as stated in the MOU, AIROD will plan, develop and conduct dedicated inspections and maintenance work for TransNusa’s A320 family of aircrafts in Malaysia, starting December, this year.

“This is not a small undertaking as it reflects TransNusa’s commitment to passengers in ensuring that our aircraft operate at peak performance, adhering to the highest standards of safety and efficiency,” said Datuk Bernard, emphasising the importance of an MRO provider for an airline.

The signing of the MOU and SGHA took place at H76, AIROD Complex, Subang, Selangor. Datuk Bernard signed the MOU and SGHA on behalf of TransNusa while AIROD Aerospace Technology CEO, Datuk Firhad Uzir Abdul Rahim signed on behalf of his company.

Established in 1976, AIROD is one of Asia Pacific’s oldest MRO service provider. Since its privatisation in 1995, the company has provided MRO-related services to 76 customers, with a combination of commercial and military aircrafts, from 33 countries.

“As such, we acknowledge and appreciate AIROD’S vast experience and strength in providing world class quality depot level maintenance, aircraft customization, and modifications, which also includes structural and avionics upgrades,” said Datuk Bernard

Datuk Bernard stressed, “This MOU is a crucial first step towards the development of a Maintenance Support Agreement, which will detail the binding commitments of both parties. Until then, this MOU represents our dedication to working collaboratively, exploring all viable options, and striving for operational excellence.”

Datuk Firhad presenting a memento to Datuk Bernard to mark the event.

On why TransNusa has partnered with AIROD, Datuk Bernard said, “AIROD has been a leading Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) service provider in Malaysia for more than a decade and is known for delivering high-quality services.

“With such a strong foundation, we are happy to partner with AIROD to ensure that our aircraft are always at optimum level of performance,” Datuk Bernard stressed.

He added that AIROD also has a list of impressive local customer base including AirAsia Group, Batik Air, Kargo Xpress, Firefly, Berjaya Air, Raya Airways, and MyJets.

“Our passengers trust us to get them safely from one destination to another, and this trust must be earned and maintained. By partnering with AIROD, we are reaffirming our commitment to safety and ensuring that our aircraft maintenance is in the hands of one of the most reputable MRO providers in the industry. This will empower us to focus more on our core mission of delivering seamless and exceptional travel experiences to our customers.” Datuk Bernard said.

In 2024 alone, they guided over 5,000 people to the summit of Kilimanjaro, more than any other operator, accounting for 15% of all successful climbs. The company experiences an annual growth rate of 20%, with thousands of positive reviews on platforms like TripAdvisor and Trustpilot, which likely played a key role in influencing the judges’ decision.

Outstanding Safety and Expertise: Travelers choose Altezza for its top-tier safety protocols, expert consultants, and high comfort standards on Kilimanjaro. Paying the highest wages in the region, Altezza attracts the best talent. The company has invested heavily in custom-designed tents and extensive guide training. In 2023, Altezza Travel’s expertise earned them an invitation to Nepal, where their guides became the first Tanzanian guides to participate in a high-profile international expedition.

Commitment to Social Responsibility: Altezza Travel’s proactive social responsibility: the company has several ongoing projects with the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority. After the devastating fires in 2020 and 2022, which Altezza helped to extinguish, they provided fire-fighting equipment to the park and took part in a large-scale reforestation effort. Additionally, Altezza invests in numerous conservation initiatives and actively supports local communities.

As of October 2024, Altezza Travel remains the leading operator for Kilimanjaro treks and wildlife safaris, setting the benchmark for excellence in Tanzania’s tourism industry.

The Sukhothai Spa at The Sukhothai Bangkok Unveils a Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of the City

A Serene Blend of Ancient Culture and Modern Luxury at The Sukhothai Bangkok

Sukhothai (pronounced Su Ko Tai) is renowned as one of Thailand’s 76 provinces, nestled in lower northern Thailand. Translating to “dawn of happiness,” Sukhothai serves as the muse for our newly unveiled spa, The Sukhothai Spa, where ancient Sukhothai-style culture is artfully infused into our design and ambiance. Here, we invite guests and members on a journey to a tranquil, spiritual, and soothing haven-a serene escape for relaxation and rejuvenation, with nature’s embrace as our guiding force.

The Sukhothai Spa at The Sukhothai Bangkok

Alexander Schillinger, General Manager of The Sukhothai Bangkok, shares the inspiration behind The Sukhothai Spa’s creation. The discovery of over 7,000 square meters of lush gardens adjacent to the hotel sparked the vision to provide guests with a spa experience immersed in the harmonious embrace of nature at the heart of bustling Bangkok. Collaborating with leading design and architecture firms, we transformed this vision into reality. By strategically positioning the main building to capture captivating views of lush greenery and incorporating traditional Thai houses as iconic landmarks, we’ve elevated the overall guest experience.

Landscape Architecture Design Concept:
The Sukhothai Bangkok’s design team seamlessly blends Thai architecture and landscape design, creating an architectural gem that mirrors the ambiance of a hidden village within a lush garden. Drawing inspiration from Wat Sri Chum, a revered temple, our design integrates elements that capture the temple’s grandeur, offering guests a delightful surprise with every exploration of the hotel grounds.

Concept of the Treatment Rooms:
Hammam: The Hammam welcomes guests with warm-toned materials, including a traditional wooden Thai door adorned with elegant bronze handles. Luxurious green natural stone finishes on hammam beds evoke serenity and harmony with nature. The two-step recessed ceiling pays homage to Wat Sri Chum, creating a captivating focal point. Terracotta mosaic tiles in the wet zone symbolize the texture of a lotus leaf, enhancing the room’s symbolism and elegance.

Hammam Room: Inspired by Middle Eastern and North African bathing rituals, our Hammam Room offers a bespoke and private experience promoting physical cleansing, relaxation, and well-being.

Treatment Room: Located on the second floor, the treatment rooms embrace a simple and direct representation of Thai architecture. Bright and relaxed, with a ‘Pra-Kon’ wall pattern representing the Thai house, the space exudes contemporary beauty. High ceilings and curved shapes add delicacy and softness, complemented by a jacuzzi tub using terrazzo and light mosaic.

Our extensive array of services includes massage therapy, beauty treatments, hammams, yoga, Pilates, meditation classes, personalized nutrition advice, and fitness training. The in-house facilities, such as a salt-water lap pool, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, a state-of-the-art technology facial room, and dedicated spaces for yoga, Pilates, and meditation, further enhance the guest experience.

The Sukhothai Spa is an urban oasis, a sanctuary dedicated to wellness. Our spa meticulously combines traditional, result-driven, and modern practices from diverse cultures to provide a comprehensive range of treatments. Fashion extravaganza CENTRESTAGE returns in September

– Record-breaking 250 brands participate
– Top local designer Robert Wun stages his ‘Home Coming’ show in Hong Kong

– CENTRESTAGE ELITES, the grand opening fashion show, will be held on 3 September at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, featuring a show from world-renowned Hong Kong-born designer Robert Wun that will be live-streamed across multiple online platforms

– The exhibition brings together 250 brands from 17 countries and regions, the highest number of brands ever to take part in CENTRESTAGE. For the first time, the event will open to the public for all four days

– In line with market trends, new thematic zones for circular fashion and athleisure fashion have been added. Around 40 events will be held during the fair

– Steve Chan, director of Weeds on Fire, has created cinematic narratives for the new collections of four fashion designers participating in the Fashion Hong Kong Runway Show, promoting cross-sectoral collaboration in the creative industries

CENTRESTAGE, the annual fashion extravaganza organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), will showcase a rich tapestry of style from 4 to 7 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event will feature a plethora of fashion shows, parades and seminars led by industry heavyweights, with attendees able to gain insights into the latest industry trends and cutting-edge designs, as well as explore business opportunities. For the first time, the exhibition will be open to both industry buyers and the public for all four days of the fair, providing a unique opportunity for fashion enthusiasts to explore and purchase from a variety of brands offering products for retail sale.

Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, said: “As the government continues to champion Hong Kong’s mega events economy, this year’s CENTRESTAGE will open its doors to both industry professionals and the public for four consecutive days. We extend our warm invitation to local residents, visitors from Mainland China and overseas to immerse themselves in this Asian fashion spectacle. This year, we are proud to showcase a record-breaking 250 brands from 17 countries and regions, including internationally renowned and iconic labels. The CENTRESTAGE runway will come alive with a series of world-class fashion shows including the “Home Coming” grand opening fashion show by Robert Wun at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, further cementing Hong Kong’s status as a premier events capital. At the same time, the event will propel the development of the fashion and creative industries in Hong Kong and reinforce our city’s position as an east-meets-west centre for international cultural exchange.”

CENTRESTAGE ELITES moves to Hong Kong Palace Museum
This year’s CENTRESTAGE ELITES will be held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum on 3 September, the day before the fair gets underway, and will feature the fashion creations of Robert Wun, the first Hong Kong-born designer to feature at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. The evening marks his triumphant homecoming and will be the first fashion show ever held at the museum. CENTRESTAGE ELITES will be live-streamed on the CENTERSTAGE website, the HKTDC’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, and on other online platforms such as ViuTV App and Yahoo HK. In addition, Mr Wun will showcase his designs in a dedicated exhibition area at CENTRESTAGE’s fairground and host a masterclass session on 5 September at which he will share his fascinating journey to becoming a globally renowned fashion designer.

Showcasing the latest collections of local fashion design brands in a cinematic way
The excitement continues with the Fashion Hong Kong Runway Show on the opening day of the fair (4 September), with four top local fashion brands – ANGUS TSUI, röyksopp gakkai, selfFab., and Z I D I – showcasing their latest collections. Moving beyond the traditional runway format, the event is collaborating with Steve Chan, director of the film Weeds on Fire that won the 1st First Feature Film Initiative organised by the CCIDA (formerly known as Create Hong Kong), to present the fashion creations of the four brands through a unique cinematic storytelling approach. This innovative take on the runway experience allows audiences to explore the world of fashion through a fresh lens while fostering deeper collaboration in Hong Kong’s creative industries.

The four-day fair will feature a series of other fashion shows, including the “Greater Bay Area Fashion Fusion Show” organised by Fashion Farm Foundation with the CCIDA as Lead Sponsor, the “Macao Fashion Parade” by the Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Center, “Thai Designers’ Showcase” by Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion, and the “Hong Kong Kids Fashion Show” by Hong Kong Kids Fashion Week.

CENTRESTAGE will feature five zones, including the newly added Athleisure and Circular Fashion zones that will feature products from the increasingly popular activewear fashion and circular fashion sectors. The Craftsmanship zone will feature exquisite artisanship while the Contemporary zone offers chic and avant-garde designs and the Urban zone highlights products targeting the younger segment.

Participating at CENTRESTAGE for the first time, the British Consulate-General Hong Kong will bring circular fashion clothing from eight British brands, including the Roksanda label from master British designer Roksanda Ilincic. International celebrities such as American pop star Lady Gaga, former United States First Lady Michelle Obama and British royal Kate Middleton have all worn Roksanda’s designs. The designer will attend the exhibition in person, hosting a sharing session at which she will interact with attendees and discuss her path to success.

The sports fever sparked by the Paris Olympics Games remains intense. Different sports brands will participate at CENTRESTAGE this year, including internationally renowned golf brand ASHWORTH, which is collaborating with well-known Hong Kong designer Mountain Yam to launch a joint collection at the event.

Also in attendance at CENTRESTAGE are local and global industry powerhouses such as the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA), the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design (AiDLab), Redress, the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS), the School of Fashion and Textiles of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA). Governments and brands from around the world are actively supporting the event and showcasing their collections, including first-time participant the Singapore Fashion Council, Japan’s Ueda College of Fashion, the Thailand Textile Institute and the Indonesia Fashion Chamber.

HKTDC continues to invite buyers from around the world to source at CENTRESTAGE, including major multi-brand stores such as CNTRBND in Canada, Elevastor in France, VOO Store in Germany, Urbanist Store in the United Arab Emirates, Japan’s The Four-Eyed Limited, ANCHORET from Mainland China and Taiwan’s CLUB DESIGNER.

Experts gather to discuss future fashion industry developments
Leading figures from various fields in the fashion industry will take part in a series of seminars that will provide in-depth insights into the latest fashion trends, industry developments and related technologies. Among them, the Innovation and Technology Symposium organised by the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel, themed “Scaling from Innovation to Impact”, will explore how collaboration can multiply the effectiveness of innovative research and development to help the textile and fashion industry meet future challenges.

Entering its ninth edition, CENTRESTAGE not only attracts top international designers and brands but also provides a stage for iconic industry competitions. The finals of the REDRESS Design Award 2024, a sustainable fashion design competition sponsored by CCIDA, will be held at CENTRESTAGE on 5 September. Ten finalists from around the world will come to Hong Kong to showcase their latest designs on the runway and compete for awards. Meanwhile, the Young Knitwear Designer’s Contest (YKDC), organised by the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society, will hold its final fashion show on the third day of the exhibition (6 September).

Set to be the grand finale of this year’s CENTRESTAGE, the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) 2024 will take place on 7 September. Masayuki Ino, founder and designer of Japanese fashion brand doublet, will join as a guest judge alongside a panel of industry experts. Together, they will select the winners from 10 finalists for four awards: the Champion, Excellence Award, Best Art Direction and My Favourite Collection. The public is invited to participate by casting votes online (https://bit.ly/YDC2024_Vote_Now) for their favourite collection.

CENTRESTAGE will be held concurrently with HKTDC’s Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and Salon de TIME. Attendees can enjoy a one-stop shopping experience for branded apparel and watches from around the world and can enter the “CENTRESTAGE X Watch & Clock” lucky draws that will be held during the exhibitions.
