FMC-Film Music Contest, a unique international music competition for composers of film, television and video game music, is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Every year, FMC seeks out and showcases musicians, composers, sound designers and instrumentalists for their compositions, and filmmakers and video makers for their films, animations and music videos with original music, awarding prestigious prizes in several competition categories.

For this special birthday year, the organisers have prepared several surprises, new features and major announcements.

Something momentous is on the horizon. A big revelation from the FMC organisers is imminent.

“This year, we have prepared a big surprise for all music and film artists, and we will be presenting it very soon—before the registration deadline for the current FMC. It is a completely new, artist-focused project we’ve been working hard on for some time. It’s going to be big and definitely something to look forward to,” said the FMC President Vlado Zeleznak JR.

This year’s six competition categories will again offer plenty of opportunities for anyone wanting to enter the contest.

FMC 2023 Categories

1. Instrumental music this year also expanded to include Relaxation, Meditation and Ambient Music.

2. Symphonic Orchestral.

3. Music for Film,TV, Ads- a highly popular category that simply must be included again this year.

4. Animation, Films, Videos- Enter your originally scored films, animations and music videos, regardless of the year you made them.

5. Scoring Retro SCI-FI Animation- Compose synth music for a short Retro Animated Sci-Fi film.

6. Action Game Soundtrack- Enter the world of video games and create music based on your own preferences for a short 1,30 min sequence of an aerial combat action sequence

Generous high-value prizes and several dozen winners every year

In addition to the absolute winners, the jury nominates entrants for special awards, announcing several dozen winners in the competition every year.

This year, the winners of FMC-Film Music Contest 2023 will share more than €60,000 in prizes which includes a mix of quality hardware and software and special bundles from renowned music companies such as Moog Music, Meze Audio, PSPaudioware, D16 Group Audio Software, and more. These are sure to boost the winners’ studio equipment and will be great upgrades for their future music projects.

FMC 2022 Instrumental Music Competition Registration Now Open

Every year, the FMC-Film Music Contest, the biggest international music competition and awards of its kind in Europe expanding to Asia intended for composers of original music for Film, TV, Ads, Videogames., provides a competitive platform for original musical compositions and pieces from around the world in multiple competition categories. FMC 2022 is no different.

One of these categories is the popular Instrumental Music category for soloists, bands, composers, small or large orchestral ensembles, chamber groups, and even offbeat musical acts and formations from around the world, with no restrictions on age or country of origin.

The competition is an opportunity for everyone, whether they play classic instruments or the traditional national instruments of their country, to showcase their playing and compositional talents.

How do you get involved?

Entering is very easy, and you can do it directly from your music studio and PC by completing the online entry form for the competition category of your choice on the official competition website.

What kind of compositions can you submit?

You can submit any instrumental piece up to six minutes long in MP3 format, which you upload during the registration process. If you want to show the diversity of your work, or if you can’t decide which of your tracks is the most fitting, you are welcome to include more than one.

It doesn’t matter when the composition was produced. You can enter older or already publicly published pieces that have already featured on CD albums or been performed at concerts, or completely new instrumental compositions never before played in public.

It is up to you whether you want to submit studio or demo recordings, or recordings from live performances and concerts.

FMC 2022 “Video Game Scoring Competition” offers an exclusive opportunity for composers from around the world

Every year, FMC-Film Music Contest – the unique international music competition and awards – provides a competitive platform for composers, musicians, producers, and sound designers of original scores for film, television, commercials and video games.

FMC includes the “FMC Video Game Scoring Competition”, a separate category for music composers and sound designers of all ages and nationalities that is unique in the world of music competitions.

“After the great response in last year’s competition and many requests to continue this category, we have decided to cater to all artists and fans. We are thrilled to launch the ‘Game Scoring’ category again this year, in collaboration with a videogame production and publishing company Grindstone. Many people don’t have the opportunity to test their skills on this type of project and expand their portfolio to showcase their work for new, larger projects. This category introduces material that is visually very interesting and will provide plenty of inspiration for all entrants. I am sure they will immerse themselves in the exciting creative process again this year, have a lot of fun and take a break from their day-to-day work. The resulting original music will be unique works of art,” said Vlado Zeleznak Jr., director of the FMC-Film Music Contest.

What does FMC 2022 have in store for music creators in the video game category this year?

They will be asked to write a score for a short intro opening sequence for the upcoming all-new video game “Die by the Blade”, set for its world premiere and release this autumn.

In this year’s contest, we are offering prizes valued at more than EUR38,000.

Every year, the competition rewards its winners generously. This year, they will receive prizes valued at more than EUR38,000 and gain international media attention and publicity. On top of that, winners will be awarded original hand-crafted trophies and certificates as keepsakes for the triumph and recognition of their musical work.

FMC 2021 is looking for Instrumental, Theatre, Video Game music compositions from around the world

On March 28, FMC 2021– Unique International Music competition and Awards has opened online registration for the regular and popular competition categories “Instrumental Music”, “Theatre Music” and for an exclusive new category “Compose Music for a Video Game”.

1. Instrumental Music Competition

The competition is for Composers, Soloists, Instrumentalists, Chamber Groups (of any kind) Ensembles and Orchestras.

The competition is unrestricted, and musicians and players who play a classical instrument such as brass (trumpet, trombone and baritone), piano, classical guitar, cello, clarinet, double bass, flute, violin or viola or any special cultural instrument may enter the competition.

Only original music compositions and works with a maximum length of six minutes may be entered in the competition. It is not a condition that the compositions have never been previously presented. They can be older music works which have already been presented at concerts, performances or other public forms or online. Of course, contestants may include brand new compositions which have not yet been presented publicly.

These can be studio or demo recordings, or live recordings of performances and concerts.

In this category, FMC is looking to discover new, talented musicians and composers and to reward their beautiful and original musical compositions. At the end of the competition, FMC then promotes the compositions on its official channels and at foreign presentations.

2.Theatre Music

National, private and independent theatres, theatre institutions and organizations may this year also enter the category “Theatre music” with their performances of music for theatre. It is exclusively intended for theatre music. Any music compositions, including those which have already been or will be part of theatre performances, may be registered.

Studio, demo recordings or recordings from live performances of any type with a maximum length of up to six minutes will be accepted.

In addition to theatres, composers who work directly with theatres and compose original music to create an unforgettable theatre performance experience may also enter this

category. This also allows composers who are beginning this style of music and who may not yet have had an opportunity to create music directly for theatre achieve this goal.

“Theatres use a lot of interesting music in their programme structures, and much of it has already been heard in performances. We recognized this in previous years of the competition and are looking forward to this year’s entries. The best compositions for theatre will be selected by an international panel of judges, who are eagerly awaiting to hear the music and decide on the winners,” said FMC Director Vlado Zeleznak JR.

3.Compose Music for a Video game

New competition category for all composers, sound designers, musicians, music producers, etc.

Music and sound are an integral part of every video game. Fans of video games pay ever more attention to this and can appreciate whether music and sound design either completes or disturbs their ideal gaming experience.

“This will be a great opportunity for any musician who composes in this music genre or plans to work professionally in this field to create musical compositions for games and platforms but has not yet had the opportunity to test their skills and work on a real video game,” said FMC Director Vlado Zeleznak JR.

“With this category, FMC wants to discover and uncover new musical talent in the industry. Several rising musicians who turned to us with this also influenced our decision to create this category. We are granting their wish and offering an opportunity to participate in an international competitive environment and compose music or design sound for the professional video game “Air Missions: HIND” from 3DIVISION video game development company. Composers will then have their music and sound evaluated by members of a prestigious international jury and the opportunity to win great and practical prizes which they can use in their recording studios,” added Zeleznak.

Members of a prestigious international jury from EU, Australia, USA, Asia who actively work in the music and film industry will select the best compositions. Many of the jury are great instrumental players who have had their compositions used in various films, TV shows, projects, video games, commercials or concert performances.

Each finished and submitted composition involved in the evaluation process has a chance to win any of the prizes in the competition with a total value of more than 58 000 Euros. In addition to the Absolute Winners the jury and organizers of the competition, may propose special prizes for other competitors which will be announced during the announcement of winners. The winners will also receive original custom made trophies and certificates that will be a reminder of the competition and an award for their success.

Film Music Contest 2021 and Awards: Registration in all categories is open

On March 28, FMC 2021, the unique international music competition and awards and one of the largest competitions of its kind in Europe now expanding into Asia, has opened online registration.

Composers have another opportunity to showcase their talent in an internationally competitive environment. An exclusive jury, composed of professional composers working for Hollywood, Netflix and national televisions, will award the best composers, musicians and filmmakers. The prizes for this year’s winners are values at a total of over EUR 58,000.

The main part of the competition is dedicated to music composers, sound designers, musicians, music producers, and music and cultural institutions. This year, FMC 2021 is also introducing the opportunity to choose a competing film and compose original music for it using unique creative and artistic concepts.

For the first time, the competition allows you to enter the video game world and compose music and design sound for an action video game scene.

FMC is looking to discover new musical talent from among the rising stars of film and TV music. It will also aid beginning composers to try out their work on a professional film or video game and test their skills in preparation for professional work in the film and music industry.

“For musicians, composers and producers who are already active in the industry, a competitive space provides the opportunity to showcase compositions for films, TV serials, commercials or video games. Another part of the competition is dedicated to films, TV serials, videos from filmmakers, independent creators, and national or private television broadcasters. They can submit their audio-visual works with original music. The FMC-Film Music Contest 2021 Revealed Competing Music Categories

New edition of the FMC-Film Music Contest 2021 has prepared the largest and the most exclusive offer of competition categories so far. In addition to the already traditional popular music categories, it will also open brand new and there will be 7 of them together.

FMC 2021 Contest Categories Revealed

1.Music for Film, TV, Ads, Video games

3. Film Score for the Animated Sci-Fi film “To the Pathfinders of the universe” This film is a sequel to the successful film scoring category, where composers and sound designers will be able to compose an original composition for this visionary work.
4. Theatre Music
5. Trailer Music for professional travel documentary film about Iceland will be a new category. The task will be the same for everyone. To compose music for the travel documentary “The Way of Inspiration Iceland” in length 3:47. Competitors will find more info about this category on the FMC website.
6. Music for Video game HIND. FMC in cooperation with 3DIVISION video game development company brings a new category: “Music for Videogame”. It was literally requested by a large community of composers and sound designers who are dedicated to this musical genre. We give them a unique opportunity to join our competition and to compose music for the interesting video game “Air Missions: HIND”.
7. Films, TV series, Videos with original music This category is for film and video makers as well as composers who have composed music to any visual work. It is possible to submit movies and videos of all genres without restrictions on the date of their creation, as well as experimental, animated, documentary, children’s films, SCI-FI and genre hybrids in a total length up to 10.00 min.
