Livingstone Health Unveils New Corporate Identity; Adds Cardiology and Family Medicine Capabilities

Singapore-based Livingstone Health (formerly known as Ardmore Medical Group) has unveiled a new corporate identity after adding new capabilities and specialists to position itself as a holistic ASEAN-focused healthcare services player with at least five specialisations.

Following an internal reorganisation and rebranding, Livingstone has added Cardiology as a fourth specialisation and Family Medicine as a fifth, after Orthopaedic Surgery, Pain Management and Anaesthesiology, and Aesthetics and Wellness.

Dr Wilson Tay, Chief Executive Officer of Livingstone, said: “The new corporate identity reflects a bigger team with a clearer value proposition, offering a suite of medical specialisations that will raise our profile and positioning as a provider of healthcare services for ASEAN, a region of rapid economic growth.”

Joining Dr Tay in executive leadership is Chief Business Officer Mr Dax Ng, Chief Operating Officer Dr Rachel Lim and Chief Medical Officer Dr Sebastian Chua.

The Cardiology practice, Livingstone Cardiology, is headed by Dr Ang Teck Kee, a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist with more than 15 years of clinical experience. Livingstone Cardiology offers a comprehensive range of cardiac services from screening to treatment procedures. The clinic is located at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre.

The fifth and latest healthcare discipline is Family Medicine, through a partnership between Livingstone and Phoenix Medical Group. The latter focuses mainly on primary healthcare such as chronic disease management and early prevention through its four clinics located across different parts of Singapore.

With the addition of Cardiology and Family Medicine, Livingstone’s roster has grown from five to 11 doctors, and from 30 to 50 staff.

As part of its new business strategy, Livingstone will also offer design and operations consultancy services to third-party healthcare service providers to set up and operate medical centres in emerging ASEAN countries. On 19 November 2019, Livingstone successfully launched an aesthetics and wellness clinic in Phnom Penh, Cambodia – a joint-venture between Livingstone and Soriya Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in the country.

Dr Tay said, “We are pleased to welcome Phoenix Medical Group and all the new doctors to the Livingstone family. With the added expertise of Cardiology and Family Medicine, Livingstone is able to offer a more holistic service to our patients and also expand our footprint within Singapore and the larger Southeast Asia region.”

The ASEAN healthcare landscape has changed very significantly since the 2008-2009 Global Financial Crisis. While patients once came to Singapore for specialist care, local costs have risen at a time when medical specialisation has improved in some parts of ASEAN, which groups 10 countries in Southeast Asia.

“We want to bring the Livingstone brand and medical expertise to patients in ASEAN countries. We have started this process through a partnership in Cambodia to offer health screening and aesthetics and wellness services. In Vietnam we have tied up with a local hospital to offer pain management services,” said Dr Tay.

“We intend to build upon this track record to expand further across ASEAN. As we do so we also increase opportunities for doctors and specialists working under the Livingstone brand,” he added.

ETRI Develops Drone and AI Technology to Predict Algal Blooms

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) has developed a technology for analyzing water quality with drones and using artificial intelligence (AI) to predict the level of algal bloom. The technology is expected to reduce public anxiety about algal blooms that reoccur each summer and help manage drinking water safety.

ETRI reported it successfully measured and predicted harmful algal blooms in a remote lake with a hyperspectral camera built in a drone. The research was published in the journal Remote Sensing of Environment.

– Prediction of algal bloom expansion with AI analysis

Algal blooms have been observed in many rivers and coastal waters where water flow is slow or stagnant. Large algal blooms can be toxic to the environment and people. If the algal bloom growth reaches a certain point, it expands exponentially making it difficult to manage. Thus, it’s critical to accurately monitor and predict algal activity.

In the past, it took a couple of days to collect samples and analyze water quality. Moreover, the process was cumbersome as it required physical site visits, making it difficult to respond quickly before the algal bloom spread.

The technology developed by ETRI uses drones to remotely examine water bodies, making it easier to study blue-green algae status, including migration, spread, and distribution in rivers or streams. Compared to satellites or aircraft, drones can monitor the water more easily at low costs and high resolution. The acquired big data is then quickly analyzed with AI, which helps predict where the blue-green algae will bloom.

– Rivers and streams explored with a hyperspectral camera

A hyperspectral sensor is central to the system’s success. While conventional images divide light into three primary colors (RGB), the hyperspectral technology can divide the visible and near-infrared regions into 200 or more colors. Thus, the technology can classify the components of an object in more detail and can be applied widely in the military, environment, medicine, healthcare, and other areas.

The hyperspectral camera in a drone can easily indicate whether the blue-green algae level is at ‘Attention’, ‘Warning’, or ‘Outbreak’. It uses the light spectrum of blue-green algae to check the current status digitally.

“We have the goal of achieving the world’s best level of accuracy in algae prediction. We plan to make it possible to track down the growth of blue-green algae and facilitate early response to prevent further spread,” said Dr. Yong-Hwan Kwon, the ETRI project manager.

ETRI has used the hyperspectral camera drone to examine the water quality of Daechung Reservoir in South Korea. The research team next plans to construct a real-time monitoring map of algal blooms in the reservoir. The objective includes a study on automating the process of exploration, data collection, input and analysis after establishing the optimal moving path of the drone.

The research team has the goal of increasing the accuracy of the algae prediction to 90% or higher by enhancing the analysis performance. They also plan to reduce the weight and size of the hyperspectral sensor by 2022.

Chinese Companies Assist in the Response to Coronavirus Epidemic

As the Coronavirus outbreak continues to spread, the Chinese government is responding with high-level attention to the provision and deployment of prevention and control. Thirty provinces and major cities have activated their highest level of emergency response as top-level Politburo Standing Committee, headed by President Xi Jinping, has taken direct control of the crisis and response.

Premier Li Keqiang arrived in Wuhan on January 27, directing virus prevention work, and for a personal inspection of hospitals in the city. With Wuhan’s overburdened healthcare system, the government called for construction of two emergency hospitals, undertaken on January 23, for completion on February 3. Work on the sites has attracted international attention for its feverish pace, both day and night, displaying the Chinese resolve.

The Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital, a 1,000-bed facility covering 35,000 sq.m at the Caidian District site, will treat coronavirus patients in isolation. The 900 workers mobilized for emergency construction know they are working in a race against time, against a tight schedule and against the coronavirus epidemic as the disease spreads rapidly across China, Asia, and further.

Two companies immediately offered assistance. Beijing GeoEnviron Engineering & Technology, Inc (BGE)(603588.SH) and sister Oriental Yuhong Waterproof Technology, Co Ltd (002271.SZ) are committed to sustainability and society. BGE is a pioneer in environmental remediation and provides pollution control and waste treatment systems. Oriental Yuhong produces advanced construction materials and is the largest waterproofing system provider in Asia.

On-site, BGE was responsible for interior construction, including deployment of personnel, equipment and materials, the overall implementation of remediation engineering, and the cross-coordination with civil engineering and other specialties. BGE applied 35,000 sq.m of anti-seepage materials twice in less than 2 days, having completed an anti-seepage system for the underground foundations, facilitating subsequent work.

With the completion of work at the first site, BGE has moved staff to the site of second facility, the Leishenshan Hospital, while Oriental Yuhong remains on-site, responsible for waterproof construction and overall coordination with government agencies and departments to ensure the supply of advanced materials.

China’s rapid and comprehensive response to the crisis, and the voluntary response of many companies such as BGE and Oriental Yuhong, are demonstrating the country’s strength and determination in containing and controlling this epidemic. China appears on the road to a successful anti-epidemic war.

Exvisa Launches Immigration App Designed to Change How People Move Across the Globe

Exvisa GmbH is proud to announce the launch of its new immigration app, designed to change how people move across the globe in an increasingly digital world. Tolga Akcay, Exvisa CEO, says his company is transforming the immigration system, along with its counterparts, emigration and relocation. Exvisa is a comprehensive technology that effectively and safely digitizes our passports, visas, and immigration information, transforming the way that people look at traveling, immigrating, and crossing borders.

“Exvisa is more than a simple digitization process for your visa or your passport – it’s a comprehensive travel technology that makes it easier than ever before for businesses and state entities to search for potential beneficial immigrants – those who possess certain skillsets or experience that are in need. In addition, Exvisa is the world’s most secure, safe, and protected digital travel platform, with cryptonizing technology specifically designed to ensure that your documents cannot be hacked, stolen, or compromised.

“First, let’s talk about the most advanced level of immigration protection that countries can now take advantage of thanks to this new technology. Because Exvisa digitizes and cryptonizes travel documents like visas and passports, countries can leverage the tremendous power of the intelligent system to effectively control relocation, immigration, or emigrations processes through a series of user-intuitive parameters that give authorities the comprehensive control that they’ve always wanted.

“Exvisa was built on the world’s most advanced intelligent system to ensure that it could offer a wide range of benefits that extended far beyond the process of digitizing documents. I wanted it to have a real-world application. So far, we’ve seen first-hand just how powerful of a resource it can be for countries who want to gain more comprehensive control over their immigration, relocation, and emigration procedures. The system makes it easier for authorities to ensure that all necessary documents are legitimate and applicable for any new immigrants, while also helping to reduce any risks associated with immigration,” says Tolga.

Exvisa can also be applied by large international corporations and employed as a talent acquisition or talent screening resource. For outsourcing needs, companies can utilize the power of Exvisa to identify specialized professionals in other countries whom they may want to recruit for their own purposes. For instance, if your business in Germany is running short on, say, programmers, you can work with countries like the US or China to cover your shortage and ensure that you have access to the talent that you need to deliver your services.

In the next few years, Exvisa will likely become the new standard instrument for immigration, relocation, and emigration. With the most advanced levels of security and protection, widespread application for businesses, comprehensive immigration control for government entities, and an easier, more convenient means for people looking to immigrate, emigrate, or relocate, Exvisa successfully leverages the power of intelligent digital technology to bring a much-needed solution to an increasingly complicated global problem.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2020, customers have the flexibility to pay only for the hours they want and add as many users as required. In addition, customers can also make changes to their subscription bundle, such as increasing hours and adding digital channels or workforce engagement management seats. This gives customers unmatched versatility to tailor their subscriptions to meet evolving business requirements.

“After a nearly 30-year legacy of providing leading on-premises contact center solutions, Genesys has successfully pivoted to the cloud – a feat many premises providers have tried but few have succeeded in making,” said Sheila McGee-Smith, president, McGee-Smith Analytics. “Genesys Cloud gives businesses the best of both worlds: one of the industry’s most powerful cloud platforms enabling rapid innovation and scalability, coupled with the knowledge and expertise of an industry pioneer. This winning combination enables even the most complex organizations to provide a differentiated experience to each customer, every time.”

The platform for rapid innovation

Easily and cost-effectively customizable, Genesys Cloud is an innovative development platform that allows organizations to address the unique needs of their customers and industry. With its robust feature set, open APIs and 100% microservices-based architecture, the platform was built for developers by developers. In fact, last year alone, 60% of the platform’s 7 billion and growing monthly API calls originated from customers and partners. In addition, organizations have even more opportunity to make Genesys Cloud their own by leveraging applications, integrations and services from the Genesys AppFoundry(R), the fastest growing dedicated customer experience marketplace in the industry.

The company also announced it is delivering all new innovations exclusively via the Genesys Cloud platform. This makes it easy for any Genesys customer – whether on-premises, cloud or hybrid – to consume new capabilities, including artificial intelligence, digital, predictive analytics and more, regardless of the Genesys product they use.
