A multi-brand trendy and collectible toy platform, kkplus not only offers products of local brands, but also works with global brands from overseas including the US and Singapore. Its products include some hot IP items worldwide, such as Tom & Jerry, SpongeBob and Street Fighter. The opening of kkplus brings Kidsland into the rapidly growing trendy and collectible toy market and creates a new driver for its business development.

kkplus recorded satisfactory sales of HK$400,000 the first weekend. During the period, the highest-spending customer spent HK$50,000. Also, the top three spending customers, as well as 50% of kkplus’ revenue came from members of LEGO Certified Stores, revealing undiscovered spending potential among the Group’s members. The Group will continue to deepen the shopping experience of its members and provide more choices. Moreover, Kidsland has made good use of social media promotion strategies to stimulate potential customers, recording satisfactory traffic and number of enquiries on kkplus’ social media platforms, of which, the Instagram filters tailor-made for kkplus were shown 220,000 times in two weeks. Besides Hong Kong, enquiries on product details also came from other cities in Asia, and even countries like the U.S., Poland and Norway, providing targeted information for constructing of its cross-regional membership and communication platform. The experience gained in the opening phase of kkplus is the cornerstone and first step in Kidsland’s plans of building the necessary online infrastructure to create a highly integrated O2O omnichannel platform to support kkplus and the Group’s future growth.

Apart from selling different trendy and collectible toys, kkplus also organises exhibitions. As a celebration for its opening, kkplus collaborated with a local toy brand, Soap Studio, to present the first exhibition, featuring Warner’s classic cartoon figures Tom & Jerry and attracted many customers. The Group also designed a set of 20 Tom & Jerry cards and an opening special mooncake set, to be given to customers who spend over specific amounts.

Kidsland International Holdings Limited (“Kidsland” or the “Group”; stock code: 2122), the largest toy retailer and distributor in China, has taken immediate and emphatic measures in the first half of 2020 to strengthen its cash management so as to strengthen its solid foundation against a multitude of macro-economic headwinds, while continuing the path of digitalization and strategic upgrade.

Despite tough operating conditions, the Group stays focused on executing its many workstreams under the digitalization and customer-centric strategic blueprint. Kidsland has achieved another important milestone of its efforts in online and offline integration of the customer journey in spite of the current challenging business environment. The Group launched LEGO Certified Online Store (https://LEGO.kidslandgroup.com) in Hong Kong on 3 August 2020, offering the most diversified and comprehensive LEGO product range in Asia Pacific, which recorded strong sales on the first day of operation, with turnover exceeded HK$4 million in just one day. Also, it opened its fifth LEGO Certified Store in Hong Kong on 29 April 2020 which witnessed satisfactory results. Furthermore, the Group’s first flagship Kidsland store under the new image and brand platform was launched in Beijing on 28 August 2020.

In the first half of 2020, the Group’s revenue from Hong Kong business continued to stay resilient at approximately RMB66.3 million (1H 2019: RMB65.5 million). With intensified expense and product procurement management, the Group managed to increase its cash position from RMB36.2 million as of 31 December 2019 to RMB117.8 million as of 30 June 2020 and reduced its inventory from RMB576.4 million to RMB473.9 million. Selling, distribution, general and administration expenses also decreased by 7.4% to approximately RMB340.9 million. Excluding the non-cash impairment provision of property, plant and equipment, and right-of-use assets, selling, distribution, general and administration expenses would have decreased by 12.9%.

The Group also continuously optimised its retail network in Mainland China and renegotiated and exited loss-making retail locations. As at 30 June 2020, the number of self-operated retail points of sale consisting of retail shops and consignment counters was 717, down from 750 a year ago.

Kidsland LEGO Certified Online Store Records Strong Sales on First Day of Operationa, Turnover Exceeds HK$4 Million in Single Day

Kidsland International Holdings Limited (“Kidsland” or the “Group”; stock code: 2122), the largest toy retailer in China, is pleased to announce that its newly launched Hong Kong LEGO certified online store (http://LEGO.kidslandgroup.com) recorded strong sales on the first day of operation, with turnover exceeded HK$4 million in just one day.

Kidsland’s newly opened LEGO® certified online store in Hong Kong records single-day sales of over HK$4 million, with special edition new products selling particularly well.

The Group launched its Hong Kong LEGO certified online store at 11:00 am on 3 August, offering the most comprehensive LEGO product ranges and exclusive promotions to customers. The store received enthusiastic response and recorded excellent sales performance on the first day of operation. Special edition new products, including 21323 Grand Piano and 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System, as well as the brand new LEGO Super Mario series and LEGO ART series were the bestselling performers, with the 21323 series quickly selling out following its release.

To celebrate the opening of the Hong Kong LEGO certified online store, the Group will be offering free delivery service to all purchases made within the first two weeks of the store opening. The first 300 customers will also be given a pair of Mickey & Minnie keychains. The Group hopes to bring joy to all customers who make purchases through its online store, as well as provide one more reason for people to stay at home and enjoy brick building.

LEGO online store represents a milestone for Kidsland in forming an O2O omnichannel that offers more comprehensive shopping experiences to customers and members. Also, the membership for its brick-and-mortar and online stores are interconnected, so that they can enjoy the same privileges when visiting the five LEGO certified stores and the online store, thus giving full play to the omnichannel experience. Compared with the last corresponding period, the five LEGO certified stores under the Group have performed satisfactorily in August. The initial success suggests that the Group’s strategy to create a seamless O2O shopping experience is correct.
